GLOSSARY



Ad:  a public promotion of some product or service

Banner: long strip of cloth for decoration or advertising
-Protesters hung a banner at a Morrison’s store in Bradford



Creative: a person who promotes construction or creation
-They will do something creative with the hands

Strategy: an elaborate and systematic plan of action
-We have implemented this strategy below for two further systems

Infomercial: a television commercial presented in the form of a short documentary 
-Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S.


Jingle: a comic verse of irregular measure
-Barrington site includes some interesting jingles and some good memories



Risk: a venture undertaken without regard to possible loss or injury
-We need to take more steps to minimize any risk of harm

Goods: articles of commerce
-They are going to buy some goods at the store


Promotion: It is the communication link between sellers and buyers for the purpose of influencing, informing, or persuading a potential buyer's purchasing decision
-We decided that these products deserved more active promotion


Publicity: message issued in behalf of some product or cause or idea or person or institution
-His words cause greater publicity than the other spokesmen put together

Quality: an essential and distinguishing attribute of something or someone
-The reasons behind poor water quality have not always been obvious

Slogan: a favorite saying of a sect or political group.
-The demonstrators shouted slogans against the presence of the British ship

Vision: the formation of a mental image of something that is not perceived as real and is not present to the senses
-Good service and a professional approach are key in realizing this vision



Newspaper: a daily or weekly publication on folded sheets; contains news and articles and advertisements
-Most stories are linked to the full newspaper article


News: new information of any kind
-We have news about your mom being back next week


Draft: a preliminary sketch of a design or picture
-Project manager circulated first draft of final report to partners

Script: a particular orthography or writing system
- They use another script in their new work

Demographic: a statistic characterizing human populations or segments of human populations broken down by age or sex or income etc.
-The manager is working with the demographic report




Survey: a detailed critical inspection
-The data in the figure is taken from the survey
 

SWOT: Strategic planning method for analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats used to evaluate a project or a business
-SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats
